NCEALynfield College offers all senior students the opportunity to study and achieve NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) internal and external assessments which contribute towards New Zealand qualifications. Teaching and learning strategies promote and encourage achievement of standards, courses and certificates at Excellence level and motivate students to do their best in order to maximise opportunities for their future tertiary study or their involvement in the workforce when they leave school. Comparisons of our results against statistics published by NZQA show that our students achieve at a level that is consistently above the national average for similar schools. NCEA qualifications enable students to demonstrate a wide range of skills based on the New Zealand Curriculum. Lynfield College takes advantage of the flexibility of NCEA to offer a range of differentiated courses across a variety of subject areas. This allows our students to select courses that meet their learning needs and gives all students the opportunities to learn and study at levels appropriate to their level. NCEA prepares students well for independent learning, encouraging good time management and ensuring learning strategies and study skills are developed throughout the course while offering a variety of assessment activities that cater for different learning styles.
