Music

Throughout the school year students with abilities and passion for music are involved in a number of musical groups. Secondary schools' festivals and Lynfield College events and musical productions give our groups ample opportunity to perform.

In Term 2 a major drama and musical production is staged. Recent years have seen high calibre productions of Buddy (the Buddy Holly Story), Grease, and most recently (2011) Guys 'n Dolls.
 

Lynfield College is renowned for the high calibre of its extra-curricular music. Both the Concert Band and the Orchestra have grown to more than 45 members and both won Bronze Awards at the KBB Music Festival.

The Big Band reached an amazing standard at the same KBB Festival and won a Gold Award as well as Most Outstanding Performance by a Big Band.

The Jazz Band's reputation reached new heights when it was asked to perform at two corporate events : a dinner attended by the Prime Minister and a fundraising luncheon at the Ellerslie Racecourse.
