NZ Ministry of Education Code of Practice

Lynfield College has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website.

Visa and Permit Requirements

Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website.

Insurance

It is a condition of enrolment at the College that all International Students must have appropriate insurance. There are no State funded medical benefits for International Students during their first two years here.

It is advisable to take out insurance in New Zealand as this allows claims to be processed quickly and paid in this country.

It is also desirable that students' luggage is insured. Insurance should also cover refund of fees in the event that the school is unable to deliver the contracted course because of unforeseen circumstances [such as major fire, earthquake etc.]

Insurance can be arranged through Lynfield College and should be organised and paid for before the student leaves home so that cover is ensured during the journey. We are able to do this through Uni-Care. The original policy will be held in the International Office.
