At Lynfield College we all try very hard to make your stay here as free from worry as possible because we know that it is a very stressful experience for you, particularly when you first arrive.
Although we try very hard, things may still go wrong for you. Here are some ways to help you deal with problems that may arise:
HOMESTAY PROBLEMS
See a Homestay Supervisor. You can make an appointment to see them at the International Office.
If you still feel unhappy, see Ms Austin. If you are still not satisfied you or your parents can write to the Principal.
If after all that you still feel that your problems have not been solved you may contact the International Appeal Authority. The address is given at the bottom of this note.
PROBLEMS WITH SCHOOL FRIENDS
See one of the Guidance Counsellors, Mrs Lange or Mr Tonks. You can make an appointment at the Guidance Office.
PROBLEMS WITH SUBJECTS OR TEACHERS
Make an appointment to see your Dean. You can ask Ms Austin for advice but it will be the Dean who will deal with it.
If you have seen the Dean and still think you have a serious problem you could ask to see the Principal or Associate Principal. If you are still unhappy you or your parents could contact the International Education Appeal Authority.
The International Appeal Authority is a Government Office, quite separate from the school, set up to deal with the problems of International Students. You must be able to show them that you have tried to get the school to act before you contact them. They will consult the school to see if anything can be done to help you.
If you do have a problem please ask for help while it is still a little problem. Don’t wait for it to become a big problem. If you are not confident that your English is good enough you can always bring a friend who has better English.
We do hope that your stay here will be a happy one.
