Pōwhiri for New Students and Staff
Our new Year 9s, along with new staff and International Students, were welcomed with a pōwhiri on Friday 5 January. The Year 9s moved from the Lynfield College Hall to House meetings, where they learnt about our House traditions and namesakes, then to their Hui mai classes.
Senior students were present as Peer Support leaders, to help students build connections and find their way around the school. This knowledge was put to the test in the afternoon quiz, where students showed they had learnt a lot in the first day.
Friday morning was dedicated to the nuts and bolts of being ready for learning on Monday, including logging into the network, finding out where to see the notices on Schoolbridge, and getting to know their learning class. Tabloid sports on Friday afternoon was a great way to put teamwork into action and encourage Hui mai classmates to be successful.
