2020 is an unprecedented year. COVID-19 has affected students, staff and their families with school and community events being rescheduled, redesigned or, in some unfortunate cases, cancelled.
The rescheduled date for our 2020 Lynfield College School Ball was Monday 28 September. We were very hopeful that this event would be able to process as it is a significant event on the College calendar and an evening all our senior students enjoy.
With Auckland currently being at Alert Level 2.5, and only able to hold gatherings of up to 10, there is considerable uncertainty about whether we will be back at Alert Level 1 in time, a requirement for an event for up to 400 students, including outside partners, to proceed.
Therefore it is with great sadness that our Year 12 and 13 students have been advised this event has been cancelled for 2020.
This will be understandable upsetting, particularly for our Year 13 students. As a consequence we will be working with our Year 13 students in support of creating a modified Leavers’ Dinner to end the year with a positive event.
As always the safety and wellbeing of our students is paramount.
Our social event of the year is the School Ball will be held at the Ellerslie Event Centre. Dress is formal with the theme soon to be announced. Our school Ball has an excellent reputation for being great fun, well run and trouble-free.
DATE: Monday 28 September (the first Monday of the school holidays)
TIME: 7.30 pm to 11.45 pm (doors open at 7.00 pm)
COST: TBC
The ticket price covers venue hire, decorations, music, food, refreshments and photography. Throughout the night photographers will be circulating to take both candid shots and traditional formal photographs. Photobooths will also be provided. Please note that the DJ may use ‘flashing’ lights.
Our Ball Committee is conscious of expenses that can be incurred in preparing for the Ball. Students are encouraged to reduce costs by searching second-hand shops and assisting each other with hair and makeup.
Student attendance at the Ball is a privilege not a right. Ticket purchase is conditional on the following:
