Festival Awards Evening 2022

On Thursday 20 October, we held our annual Lynfield College Senior Festival Awards Evening celebrating student success in sports, the arts and cultural activities.

It was wonderful to be able to host a live prizegiving again, while simultaneously live-streaming the event to enable all our students and their families to join us in looking back on what our students were able to achieve in 2022. Our guest speaker was Eroni Leilua, a past pupil who represented Samoa at the recent 2022 Olympics.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported our students’ sports, arts and cultural activities this year.

We are very appreciative of the sponsorship we received from Countdown Lynfield and New Era Technology for their livestreaming production.

A livestream of the event can be watched at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW_KL3wuTN4

Congratulations to all our award winners:

2022 World Robot
Olympiad Results

Congratulations to Evan Huang and Daisy Chen on their joint second placing in the Future Innovators: Junior Category of the New Zealand Finals of the 2022 World Robot Olympiad.

A total of 33 teams (16 elementary, 13 junior, 4 senior – all in the future innovators category) participated. This is the first World Robot Olympiad to be held in New Zealand: https://wro.org.nz/2022results/

The WRO® theme for 2022 was 'My Robot My Friend'. The combination of robotics and artificial intelligence can change the world and especially the environment of humans. The season challenges are connected to the ways that robots can help humans: https://wro-association.org/competition/2022-season/

Many thanks to Lynfield Robotics Club coaches Craig Yearbury and Doug Bryan for their support.

Vishwa Jayswal, Auckland Zonta Award

Congratulations to Year 13 student, Vishwa Jayswal!

Vishwa has consistently shown her dedication and diligence in all aspects of her school life. She is an excellent role model for those around her and frequently demonstrates manaakitanga. Vishwa’s wonderful character has been noted by Zonta Auckland and from a number of very high calibre applicants and she was chosen to receive the Young Women in Public Affairs Award. This award recognises young women for their commitment to volunteerism, leadership achievements and dedication to empowering women worldwide.

Vishwa was presented with her award at a special dinner function organised by Zonta on Monday 17 October where she was also one of the featured speakers.

Overall, the judges were extremely impressed with Vishwa and believe she has a very promising future ahead. Well done Vishwa!
