Year 12

NCEA Level 2

There are two music courses available at NCEA Level 2. Both courses include development of instrumental skills, rehearsing and performing as a member of a group, composing original music, using music technology and developing music theory knowledge. The achievement standards are as follows:

Music Studies

STANDARD: 91272 (6 CREDITS)
Perform two substantial pieces of music as a featured soloist

STANDARD: 91274 (4 CREDITS)
Demonstrate ensemble skills by performing a substantial piece of music as a member of a group

STANDARD: 91271 (4 CREDITS)
Compose two substantial pieces of music

STANDARD: 91275 (4 CREDITS)
Demonstrate aural understanding through written representation (External).
