Through studying music, students learn how to rehearse and perform on an instrument, create their own original music and critically analyse music from a wide range of styles and genres.

In a world where music technologies and practices are constantly evolving, at Lynfield College we pride ourselves on offering music courses that are current, relevant and valuable to our students now, and for their future.


Department resources include:
  • 2 large classrooms
  • 5 practice rooms
  • Drum kits, electric guitars/basses, amps, PA systems, electric keyboards
  • Computer suite
  • Recording studio
  • 40 acoustic guitars
  • Brass, woodwind and string instruments available for hire
 
The music department also offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities:
  • Jazz/Rock bands
  • Orchestra/Concert Band
  • Song writing competitions
